Congratulations BRD on a great regatta.
There are so many people to thank - too many to mention every single person, but ....
A special thank you to Ewen for all the behind the scenes work with registrations and race draw and then putting it all together on the day. Thank you to Norbert for towing the Dragon Boats, Sue B and Blair for the taking the equipment in their ute's, Erica for her support boat and Paul for towing the QDBF trailer. Plus a thank you to everyone else to brought up tables, drums, tails, heads and various other bits and piece including the last minute purchase of 4 new 3x3 pop ups. Thank you to Di O for organising the equipment and making sure we had everything we needed. I hope that the next time we run a regatta we have our equipment trailer to make it all a little easier!
Everyone who worked and paddled on the day - what an awesome effort - it all went like clockwork, with Helen and Ann getting everything sorted first up on registrations & then throughout the day on results, Tracy and Shaz on Marshalling getting all the crews ready, Dallas for organising the visiting sweeps, Emiliia, and her team of boat handlers, Janelle G and her team of timekeepers, Adam and Gary starting the many races, Norbert and Rick Read (Redlands) for calling the races all day, - it was all coming together very well (in the end). Thank you to Blair and Erica for zipping up and down in the support boat. Janelle P and Leigh did a fantastic job organising the raffle and thank you to Edith all the DDA (MBT) for arranging l the food and manning the food tent, June S for selling all the tickets in the raffles.
A big thank you to all the paddlers too especially Scotty Carmichael who was thrust into the position of race team organiser- some members were nearly in every race - and still smiling! Even the weather didn't dampen our spirits. Feedback from the clubs justified Blair and Ewens decision to run with 10s and the skins event to give paddlers a bit of variety. The 1800m race was also great to watch and more exciting on the shorter course. Congratulations to Denise for doing a great job sweeping this race taking our crew on the inside line around the southern end corner with millimetres to spare while Tracy E's drumming and calls could be heard all over the Sunshine Coast - great work - you all looked fantastic.
Thank you BRD as a club you can all pat yourselves on the back for this one. That's one down and one to go! So time for a short rest and then it's all hands on deck for Chinese New Year - our biggest fundraiser for the year.
