The end of each season culminates in the State Titles where Queensland’s best crews and clubs are decided. National Titles are held right across Australia with each State taking turn to host the event on a rotational basis. Club crews are entitled to compete at the National Titles over a number of different distances. (200m, 500m, and 2000m). Standard 20 paddler and 10 paddler categories are offered for competition at these events. At the highest level there is the chance to compete internationally. A number of regattas are held around the world including the World Titles and the Club Crew World Championships.
Many members of BRD have competed and won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for Australia at the IDBF World Championships and BRD as a club has a proud history of competing in several Club Crew World Championships in some amazing venues around the world. BRD was the first Australian club to contest all categories in the 2008 Club Crew World Championships in Malaysia which was an amazing achievement, and the club repeated the feat at the 2010 Club Crew World Championships in Macau, China.
Since that time BRD has competed in Club Crew World Championships in Hong Kong (2012), Ravenna Italy (2014) and Adelaide (2016) winning medals at each of these events. The next assignment will be Szeged, Hungary 2018.
Adelaide was BRD’s most successful Club Crew World Championships winning seven (7) world club titles, 6 second placings and 4 third placings - an outstanding achievement for one club in any standard of competition.
The outrigger canoe group competes in events all over Australia and around the world, including Hawaii, New Zealand, Cook Islands, and Tahiti.
Events include local, State, National and World title events in sprint and marathon racing. BRD crews at all of these events have performed extremely well over the years with a number of placings being achieved on a regular basis.
